چکیده

Chick embryo neural retina cells from 7-, 10and 14-day embryos and muscle cells from 9-day embryos, dissociated mechanically or with trypsin, reaggregate at the same initial rate whether treated before and during aggregation with active or inactive iV-acetyl neuraminidase. 7V-acetyl neuraminidase treatment also has no effect on the size or number of aggregates formed over 24 or 48 h of aggregation. It was also found that the amount of trypsin used to dissociate the tissue into single cells alters the initial rate of aggregation but has no effect on the size or number of aggregates formed over a 24-h period.

The Effect of Sialic Acid on miR-320a and let-7e Expression in Human Glial Cell Line

Introduction: Sialic acid plays pivotal roles in various critical physiological events at molecular and cellular levels and also pathological processes. Changes in sialic acid concentration are observed in many pathological processes; for example, there are some available data on the evaluated level of sialic acid and neurodegenerative prevalence. It can be proposed that sialic acid can play a ...

A Study on the Mechanism of Intercellular Adhesion

Aggregation of suspended HeLa cells is increased on removal of cell surface sialic acid. Calcium ions promote aggregation whereas magnesium ions have no effect. The calcium effect is abolished by previous treatment of the cells with neuraminidase. Trypsinization of the HeLa cells followed by thorough washing diminishes the rate of mutual cell aggregation. Subsequent incubation with neuraminidas...

Platelet sialic acid and platelet survival after aggregation by ADP.

Some investigators have reported recently that platelet surface sialic acid is decreased during ADP-induced aggregation, whereas others have reported an increase. Since removal of sialic acid from the platelet surface shortens platelet survival, we have determined the survival of platelets that have been aggregatad by ADP. We have also measured the amount of sialic acid in the suspending fluid ...

Assessment of Sialic Acid Distribution in Mouse Epididymis

Previous studies have shown that epididymal epithelium and its secretions are critical for sperm maturation. These secretions contain many glycoconjugates with sialic acid terminal sugar. This terminal sugar by interveining in cellular interactions and masking surface receptors, has an important role in sperm maturation and protection. Moreover lectins have been employed as useful probes to det...
